A Car, Boat and a Wedding

Most of my clients come to me through recommendations, and Andrew and Lindsay’s wedding was no exception – apart from the venue that is! The wedding was held on a ship designed by Brunel, The SS Great Britain.

Andrew and Lindsay are one of the nicest couple you’ll ever meet.  They are passionate about each other and were very relaxed about having their photo taken. 

Before the wedding, Andrew and I visited the ship, where we discussed the shots and what could be expected.  I was surprised to see how big the ship was and how great each floor looked.  There were plenty of places to get great shots.

On the day, I met Lindsay at home, where I was surprised to find the usual last minute panic by the bride, mother and bridesmaids wasn’t there – all was relaxed and calm with plenty of tea and champagne on hand.

Lindsay arrived in a stretch Mini, her favourite car - yes they managed to find a mini that had been converted to take 6 people in the back.  The sun was shining and the public loved the bride posing for a few shots before she went in.  In fact I had to ask them to stop hanging over the boat railings for a few of the shots, for their own safety and so I could take the pictures.

As always the guests were great, where else can you go where everyone is happy, slightly merry and always ready to pose?  Emotions are showing, everyone is enjoying themselves and I get great photos to capture the day.  By the end of the day I had made a lot more friends.

With all my weddings, along with all the usual formal and reportage shots, I try to be creative and capture images that wouldn’t necessarily be taken by other photographers. I’m also interested in capturing the essence of the day and the natural you, whether you are the happy couple, family member or guest......
